E Natural Base bamboo flute / Bansuri is a professional quality long size Bansuri. When the upper three holes are coverd by finger its the Indian E natural base scale.
Scale / Key: Indian E Natural Base when upper three holes are covered.
Western “key note”: B natural, when all six holes are covered.
Length: Approximately 29.3 inches (~74.4 cm) for the standard right‑hand model.
Materials and origin: Handmade from natural bamboo (colour, hole placement, diameter, weight and thickness may vary because bamboo is a natural product.
Tone description: “Low frequency & complex tone that is warm, sweet and seamless.” Excellent for classical music, orchestral playing, studio recording & musical effects.
Because it’s ~29 inches, this is a large / “base” size bansuri.
It will have more physical weight, be more cumbersome to hold, and possibly require more support (arm/hand position) to play comfortably over long sessions.
Finger stretch: The finger holes will be farther apart compared to smaller bansuris; this could affect ease of play especially for those with smaller hands.
Breath control: Larger tubes mean more air volume; the embouchure and airflow technique must be adjusted (slower, more controlled, stronger diaphragm support) to get clean tone, especially in the lower octave (such as the “Pa” note in the lower register).
Many players flag that Lower Pa in E base can be tricky.
Because of its large size, the bansuri naturally emphasizes lower frequencies — giving it a warm, deep, resonant quality. Good for alaaps (slow intros), mood pieces, accompaniment, or when you want a strong “bottom” presence.
The “complex tone” means it likely has rich overtones, sustain, and a somewhat slower decay compared to shorter flutes.
For live ensembles or recordings, it can serve as a foundation voice, supporting higher flutes or other melodic instruments.
In Indian classical terms: It’s tuned so that the “Sa” when upper three holes are covered is E Natural (White 3 in Indian nomenclature).
For Western notation: All six holes covered gives B natural. So depending on your context (Indian classical vs fusion vs Western), you have to keep this in mind.
Because E‑base is relatively low, many compositions or pieces that require high register (or certain ragas that ascend high) might demand more effort to bring out clarity in higher pitch areas.
This is ideal for:
Classical Hindustani (“base” style) performances where low register is significant.
Studio work: The rich bass tone may record very well for ambient, film score, fusion settings.
Accompaniment settings: If you need a flute that provides strong body / base rather than high‑pitched sparkle.
Artists who prefer deeper/ mellow timbre rather than bright/higher pitch.
Ensure all finger holes are sealed properly when playing lower notes — because leakage is often a culprit for weak tone in base flutes.
Check air direction & speed — A base flute often needs a slower, fuller air stream, slightly different lip/embouchure than medium or high flutes.
The size may mean ergonomics matter: support strap or stand, hand strength, posture could become more important.
Since bamboo is a natural product, colour, holes, weight and daimeter slight variations will exist. The listing already mentions that.
Maintenance: Larger flutes may be more prone to warping / cracking if not stored and oiled properly (especially in variable humidity).
Transport & storage: A 29‑inch flute needs a suitably sized case – check packaging, case quality.
Punam Flutes also offers a “Full Set” of their flutes (25 flutes across scales) which includes a case for the E Natural Base and cleaning rod.
About tuning: The availability of 432 Hz version implies they cater to alternate‑tuning enthusiasts. 432 Hz is often preferred by those who believe in “healing / ambient / meditation” uses.
Pros:
Deep, rich tone with strong presence.
Excellent for expressive, emotional, meditative playing.
Good for professional recordings / serious performances.
Strong brand / reputation (Punam Flutes).
Option for left‑hand or 432 Hz tuning versions adds flexibility.
Cons:
Size & weight: may be less comfortable for beginners or smaller hands.
Requires more air control, possibly steeper learning curve.
Larger surface area → more susceptible to environmental/humidity effects.
Transport and storage more challenging.
Because of brand & size, cost may be higher than medium flutes.

Customization request:
a. For customization request, I have made a special instructions box in which the customer can ask for engraving and threading.
b. Engraving: We do this handwritten and the limit to that is dependent on our handwriting. By default, Om and Subhash are already written on the flute but the customer can get it changed and it has to be a pre-paid order and there is no exchange or return after the engraving as we cannot sell this flute to someone else.
c. Threading: Traditionally we have threads tied at both the ends of the flute and in the middle, to protect the flute from wear & tear and also to retain the natural sound of the Bansuri. At Punam Flutes we offer you an option to customize the colour of the threads binding on the flute.
1) While you choose your flute, , we have put up a picture with flute of 15 colours of threads and the customer can choose any 2 colours from these options. This can be done in the customization box before the payment page. Our recommendation will be for you to choose one light and one dark colour, which adds a beautiful and organic look to your Bansuri. If any customer does not choose a colour, then by default we give them maroon and orange colors on the flute.
2) We have 40 different combinations of threads for our customers. You can choose one style per flute or have all your flutes with the same combination. This can be done in the customization box before the payment page. The shade of the actual thread might differ a little from the picture.
